Mesa Verde

The same day we were in Telluride, we planned to go to Mesa Verde National Park. To prepare we bought an annual National Parks pass in Moab, but ends up on Martin Luther King day, all National Parks are FREE! So don't buy a pass. I have been wanting to go back to Mesa Verde for quite a few years now. I went when I was a kid and it is a vivid memory of my childhood.

To drive here, you climb this huge mountain of switchbacks. I was surprised the indians that settled this area even found these cliffs in the first place.
Walking down:
They only have one cliff dwelling open during the winter FYI. The biggest is closed during the winter.

I remember last time, my dad specifically going down into this "house" by himself. But this time, I went down in it and it was pretty sweet & warm too!

When we got to the top, we were almost out of gas. So driving home, we coasted down much of the mountain and barely made it to the gas station.
This place is so mysterious and magical at the same time!
