What is Love?

Love is being able to confide in someone. It’s about being comfortable around someone. It’s being heard when you need someone to talk to. It’s not about being put down, contradicted when you have an opinion. Love is a listening ear. You become closest to someone when you can reveal your insecurities, fears, and worries and they don’t think less of you because of it. That is the essence of what brings two people together.

I have many friends because I don’t look down at them for thinking their own thoughts or ideas. They apparently think a certain way based off their own experience. Who are we to tell them they are wrong? Who are we to think we are better than someone else because we have a different opinion?

Friends become closer together when lead by truth and the spirit to lead them. Then they have many “ah ha” experiences and both are edified. The minute pride enters the conversation, the spirit leaves and neither are edified.

I feel extremely blessed to be raised by loving parents. Ones who listened and NEVER told me I was wrong for thinking the way I did, but listened--realizing they might learn something from me and I from them.

May we all be better listeners. May we have the spirit with us when conversing with others. May we be open to others ideas and thoughts and feelings and we will all be better for it. We will reach a level with our relationships that we never have before. When we show this love towards others, our capacity to love increases and in return, you will feel loved right back.

What is love to you?

I totally agree, and needed to be reminded of this. Thanks Garbett!
